Americas Watchdog has created the Mesothelioma Victims Center as a free service to victims or family members of victims, of a rare form of cancer called Mesothelioma. Americas Watchdog has initiated this very complete free service because there was literally nothing close to this type of service in the United States and because this type of service is sorely needed by Mesothelioma victims and their families.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer which affects people who have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles. In this type of cancer malignant cells are found in the mesothelium, a protective sac that covers most of the internal organs of the body. The cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. These abnormal cells can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. They also spread to other parts of the body. In most case the disease begins in the pleura or peritoneum, which covers most of the organs in the abdominal cavity.

Asbestos

Asbestos is a natural mineral found in deposits in the earth. Prior to 1975,
it was widely used in drywall, insulation, and heating appliances in older buildings like
gyms and fitness centers. When asbestos materials are intact, they’re relatively harmless.
But when disturbed, microscopic asbestos fibers are released into the air. If exposure is
prolonged over an extended period of time, asbestos fibers collect in the lungs or stomach and cause a deadly cancer called mesothelioma. Mesothelioma symptoms are subtle and are generally latent for 20-50 years after initial asbestos exposure. If your gym contains asbestos, you may not be able to recognize mesothelioma symptoms until the cancer has already metastasized. For more information go to http://www.mesotheliomaprognosis.org/

Pleuralmesothelioma.com has the most up to date and comprehensive information about Pleural Mesothelioma and asbestos exposure related cancer on the the web today. Such as Mesothelioma Survival Rate and information ranging from a complete list of symptoms, to treatment options, and steps to take after a diagnosis.

Video: How To Safely Remove Asbestos

http://www.searchmesothelioma.net
In this video the author warns that contractors should be aware that homes built prior to 1980 will usually have asbestos somewhere in the construction. Protective safeguards for both employees and the surrounding environment should always be observed.

Before remodeling an older home, it's important to know how to remove asbestos from buildings safely to avoid harmful exposure to asbestos fibers and dust.

Overview of Asbestos Removal Procedures US 1999

This clip from the 1999 US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) video, Asbestos Managing Problems, Addressing Concerns, shows good containment procedures to prevent the spread of the asbestos during building abatement and demolition. Over the past 20 years, with more stringent US regulations in place concerning the use of asbestos and greater awareness of the health effects of the material, many buildings with asbestos problems were abandoned by corporations and left for the government to clean up. These buildings still present a threat due to large amounts of asbestos containing materials (ACM). Tragically, asbestos building materials and other products, such as brake shoes, are still being used in the US in 2008. (Source: YouTube)
